Welcome: Oysters and Vermouth

Along with a welcome cocktail made with Flying Fox Summer time Vermouth and Smoke within the Chimney’s Carbonated Water, there was probably the most lovely oyster show clouded by dry ice!

Canapes

Seated Dinner

The chef du jour was Adam Bean who’s on the staff at Veritas. I believed his dishes have been unbelievable (particularly the dessert course – look ahead to it!) We have been welcomed with remarks by Chef Bean and Winemaker Emily Hodson.

Le Menu

First Course

Summer time Tomato “Vol Au Vent” with royal pink shrimp and frisee paired with the 2023 Cabernet Franc.

Bread Course

Naturally! The honey butter was unbelievable.

Second Course

Mussels in Viognier and Saffron Cream with Charred Fennel. 

Plus Hanger Steak and Frites

And probably the most scrumptious corn dish made with Vadouvan Curry and Chanterelles. Paired with the 2022 Petit Verdot that was my favourite wine of the night time!

The ambiance beneath the lights all night was magical! We listened to music by the French bistro jazz band Les Zazous. 

Dessert Course

I LOVED the creativity on this course. We thought these shavings have been some sort of candy chocolate however they have been truly CHEESE! 18 month comté cheese served over honey ice cream. What a novel and scrumptious mixture! The dessert wine paired was a Petit Manseng.
